i took a sunday oil painting class with local artist, Elizabeth Cencini, to spread my wings. being self taught, i never really had someone to teach me how to paint, so all of my oils are done in layers of glazes.  not that it’s “wrong”, but i wanted to try the traditional way.  Elizabeth was great. in just 2.5 hours, i learned quite a bit, was able to feel less afraid of painting wet on wet. since i’d forgotten my image at home, i found something to work from by an artist named Justin Wiest, lovely profile portrait.  here are the beginnings of that endeavor:
